Physical Description

The HDR-XR150 features a compact horizontal camcorder design similar to other Handycam models, with a side-mounted flip-out LCD screen. Due to the internal hard drive, it is slightly heavier than flash-based models. The unit includes a hand strap for stable operation, a top-mounted zoom rocker, and covered ports for connectivity and media access.

History

Released around 2010, the HDR-XR150 was part of Sony’s lineup of HDD-based camcorders during the transition to solid-state storage. While flash memory models were becoming more common, HDD camcorders like the XR150 appealed to users needing extended recording capacity without managing multiple memory cards. It retained AVCHD recording and Exmor R sensor technology for improved low-light performance.
