Physical Description

The TS-770 is a desktop-style transceiver housed in a metal cabinet with a front-facing speaker. The front panel features a large analog signal meter, digital frequency display, and multiple rotary controls for tuning, mode selection, and band switching. Separate sections for VHF and UHF operation are integrated into a single chassis, with clearly labeled controls and connectors.

History

The TS-770 was introduced in the early 1980s as an all-in-one VHF/UHF base station transceiver. It followed earlier single-band designs by combining both 2 meter and 70 centimeter coverage in one unit. The radio supported multiple operating modes, making it suitable for weak-signal work, FM repeaters, and general amateur use.

This model was produced during the period when Kenwood branding had largely replaced Trio and Trio-Kenwood in international markets. The TS-770 became known for its versatility and remains of interest among amateur radio operators and collectors.
