History

ASUSTeK Computer Inc. was founded in 1989 by four former Acer engineers: T.H. Tung, Ted Hsu, Wayne Hsieh, and M.T. Liao. The company initially focused on motherboard design and quickly gained recognition for producing high-quality products for the rapidly growing personal computer industry.

In the early 1990s, ASUS established a close working relationship with Intel, helping the company become one of the leading motherboard manufacturers in the world. As the PC market expanded, ASUS broadened its product offerings to include graphics cards, notebook computers, servers, networking equipment, and complete computer systems.

During the 2000s, ASUS launched several successful product families, including the Republic of Gamers (ROG) gaming brand and the Eee PC netbook series. In 2008, the company reorganized its manufacturing operations, creating Pegatron as a separate company focused on contract manufacturing and OEM production.

Today, ASUS remains one of Taiwan’s largest technology companies and continues to develop products for consumer, business, gaming, and enterprise markets worldwide.
