Collins Aerospace was formed in 2018 after United Technologies Corporation acquired Rockwell Collins and combined it with UTC Aerospace Systems.
The company traces part of its heritage to Collins Radio Company, founded by Arthur Collins in Cedar Rapids, Iowa in 1933. Collins Radio became a major supplier of aviation and military communications systems and was later acquired by Rockwell International in 1973.
In 2001, Rockwell Collins became an independent company after being spun off from Rockwell International. The company expanded into advanced avionics, aircraft communications, and aerospace electronics systems.
Following the 2018 merger, Collins Aerospace became one of the world’s largest aerospace systems suppliers.
In 2020, United Technologies merged with Raytheon Company to form Raytheon Technologies, later renamed RTX Corporation.
